Home › Manufactured Home Transport
Transport covers just the drive: hauling a manufactured home from a dealer lot, a park or private land to a new site. Some people only need transport because a dealer or a separate installer handles the setup.
Permits and routes
Manufactured homes are oversize loads in Texas. The mover gets an oversize permit from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) for each section, and the permit sets the route, travel times and any escort requirements. Wider loads and some highways need pilot cars.
Insurance
Ask any mover for proof of cargo and liability insurance before the home is hitched. A good mover will walk the route and the site before quoting.
Out-of-state moves
Moves into Louisiana, Arkansas or Oklahoma need a permit from each state along the route. Tell the mover early.

Questions folks ask
How much does it cost to move a mobile home in Texas?
Typical estimates run about $1,500 to $5,000 for a local single-wide transport and $3,000 to $10,000 or more for a double-wide. Full-service moves with teardown and setup can go higher. Distance, size, permits, escorts and site work all change the price, so get written quotes.
Do you move the home yourselves?
No. We are a free referral service. We connect you with independent local movers and installers who do the work and set their own prices.
What paperwork do I need to move a mobile home in Texas?
Usually proof of ownership (a TDHCA Statement of Ownership) and a tax certificate from the county tax office showing taxes are paid. The mover gets the TxDMV oversize permit for the transport.
